The DC Center for Global Education and Leadership mobilizes the unique resources of the nation’s capital to help prepare a new generation of DC youth for life and careers in our culturally diverse, globally interconnected 21st century world.
In November six DC high school students (from Ellington, Hospitality, McKinley, School Without Walls, and Washington Latin) will travel to Japan for 2-1/2 weeks of cross-cultural exchange and exploration in Tokyo and in the Tohoku region, devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. Be sure to follow the students' blog at www.usjapanfuture.org/student-blog/. This is the second part of a two-way exchange, funded by the US-Japan Council and administered by American Councils in partnership with Globalized (DC). This past summer these same students hosted their Japanese peers in DC. Great fun and a lot of learning going on!
